Lightning Talks. Networking. Keynotes. Breakouts and Coffee.

DBWRS is the first Dutch-Belgian Workshop on Recommender Systems. In today's digital age, where information overload and an abundance of choices are the norm, recommender systems play a vital role in helping users navigate through vast amounts of data. These systems have become ubiquitous across various domains, including e-commerce, social media, entertainment, and many more, shaping the way we discover new products, engage with content, and connect with others.

DBWRS will bring together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields to explore and discuss the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in this dynamic field. By fostering collaboration and exchange of ideas among experts in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, psychology, communication, policy, law and beyond, this workshop aims to unlock new frontiers and push the boundaries of recommender systems.

We invite you to join us in this exciting journey as we explore the interdisciplinary nature of recommender systems and work together to uncover innovative approaches that enhance user experiences, foster personalized decision-making, and contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of digital recommendations.

Program

DBWRS is a two-day event filled with inspiring talks and numerous networking opportunities. Attendees are warmly invited to submit their own work to bring to the stage. There will be opportunities to discuss published work as well as work in progress.

Day one

The first day consists of a series of plenary talks by academic researchers and industry practitioners. Throughout the day, there will be poster sessions and many network opportunities. This will be followed by a reception and conference dinner. And maybe a karaoke

Day two

On the second day, thematic breakout sessions will be organized to delve deeper into current issues in recommender systems research. These sessions are a great opportunity for early career researchers to receive feedback on their ideas and discuss potential collaborations.

RecSys crossing boundaries

DBWRS aims to encourage collaboration across the boundaries of disciplines, organizations, and career stages. The workshop will feature a wide range of topics, such as machine learning techniques, user modeling, algorithm design, human-computer interaction, ethical considerations, and the business implications of recommender systems. By combining insights from multiple disciplines, we can gain a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in building effective and responsible recommender systems that meet the needs and preferences of individual users in a responsible manner.

Whether you are a budding researcher, a senior investigator, or a practitioner working on recommender systems in industry, this workshop provides a unique platform to engage in meaningful discussions, share novel ideas, and forge collaborations that can shape the future of recommendation technology.
