Call for contributions.
DBWRS2023 invites two types of contributions:
Published works
We welcome authors of published works on the topics of interest to submit their work to be included in the DBWRS2023 program as Lightning Talk or Poster. The work should have been published in 2022 or later. Upon acceptance of your submission, you will be informed about the presentation format.
Work in progress
We particularly encourage junior researchers to submit an extended abstract of their work in progress to DBWRS. These abstracts may be presented during the breakout sessions.
We aim to present a diverse program that includes contributions from a wide variety of disciplines, and therefore welcome submissions from academic fields such as computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, psychology, media and communication studies, legal sciences, and beyond. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Counterfactual evaluation and causality
Domain-specific algorithmic challenges
Evaluation
Experimentation
Explainability
Multi-stakeholder concerns
Ethics, norms, values and policies
Scalability and data issues
Users and interfaces
Novel applications

Please note, there will be no official DBWRS proceedings. Given the local character of DBWRS and the goal of strengthening connections between the Dutch and Belgian research community on recommender systems, submissions are limited to (at least one) author(s) with a Dutch/Belgian connection.
Submission instructions
Published work
DBWRS is inviting authors of papers published at high-ranked conferences or journals to present their work. The work should have been published in 2022 or later. Submit the link to the publication, the abstract and a PDF version of the work.
Submissions of published works are now closed! Notifications will be sent out on October 18.
Work in progress
Recent work you can’t stop talking about? Any ideas you want feedback on? Submit your extended abstract (1000-1500 words) and a short bio of the author(s), and get the opportunity to discuss your work with peers!
Nominate someone else
Did you read an astonishing article that was recently published and would fit the DBWRS program? Let us know about the work, and who should be invited to DBWRS! Submit the link to the publication + title of the article through this form.

Important dates
Submission deadline: 9 October, 2023 (Midnight UTC+2).
Notification of acceptance: 18 October, 2023.
